Is this the last waste of money in Melbourne? Will the F1 go?
Or will it be moved to a sustainable multipurpose track site (somewhere safe, where we can teach the kids to drive)?

Anyway, THE STREAMS ARE BACK!!!

In PR news today, we have been sent a nice press release regarding the re-release of Uniden’s Digital Scanner, UBCD396XT.
Whilst not actually getting a free scanner (although we’d love one) :) we have the latest info on this new release.

It seems thet Uniden themselves have approx 200 units available in Australia before Xmas and more to come after that.
Price has been dropped down to $499 for this improved model.

Is it worth it? Don’t know, but if they send me one, we’ll give it a whirl.

We have many people listening in daily to our live streams (currently using a Analogue 780xlt and a Digital 996t)
Perhaps the new features will make a difference there (or they will alllow us to increase the channel/service offerings we have on the streams)

From a quick read there are now 25,000 channels  allowed in the memory and even the unit/radio ID is displayed for each transmission.

I think Uniden getting back in the AU market with this scanner will see a good sales boost for them.
They only need to focus on getting an easy to use data file for each state/region for users to get the correct programming uploaded.
Sadly the day of just punching in a few channel freqs or hitting scan/search are long gone.

Today was the first fatal crash on Eastlink tollway
A truck ended up crashing into an overhead gantry and bursting into flames
Sadly the driver was killed
The road was closed for the entire arvo peak and into the night

Interestingly both the ABC and Ch7 news helicopters were talking with Air490 on 131.600 whilst flying around the scene.
