In between the Avalon Airshow and AP F1 GP streams we now have forums back online.

Topics will be lite and simple as we dont want to replicate the other forums already out there but rather just add a simple discussion area to the site.
Try to keep the posts appropriate and on topic. Other ideas welcome

ScanAustralia Forums here.

Existing members and users need to be signed in to post. Anyone can read so play nice.

Leading aerobatic pilot Peter ‘Pip’ Borrman has died in a plane crash in Shepparton, north-east Victoria.
Mr Borrman’s small plane landed in a private paddock and caught fire north of the runway at the Shepparton Airport about 2.30pm, according to a Victoria Police spokeswoman.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics went to the scene but he had already died.

ScanAustralia is back and its great to see so many members return and support us just like we had never been away.
Thanks for all the email and direct contact but before we get too far ahead we need to make sure every one here is who they say there are.

Recently we have had an increased number of members joining (and as always, little posting comments or feedback).
We are increasing the requirements to join via WordPress and hopefully that will ensure only real members join.

To cover those already here we would like a little feedback from each person to ensure spambots arent included as members.
Even if you have only joined to listen in to the streams we’d appreciate if everyone can complete the following;

Each member is to add their location into the ‘Biographical Info’ (in user profile) for their account or post a reply comment to this post.

Simple, add a location to indicate you are real and the account will stay.
Accounts with no location listed will be deleted in 14days (2 weeks). The location can be real, fake or fictional.

Thanks for you co-operation, any questions fire us a message.
Remember you can comment on most posts/pages or even submit a new page to us by email.

Gone.

Little can be said about the devastation of the last few days.
Fires have totally destroyed not just buildings and streets but whole towns.

Many internet sites have supplied ongoing information for those in need and those who wanted to keep up with the details.
Sadly ScanAustralia was unable to receive and relay this information but we have kept up with a lot of it.

Many Government sites were overwhelmed with the traffic and calls have gone out to only use the main sites only if needed.

After postive feedback from those listening in, we have reviewed the list of freqs on the ScanAustralia.com.au Digital stream.
Most of the analogue channels have now been removed and only a couple of interesting ones have remained.
The digital channels have been updated to cover most of the scannable services available from here.

Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board (MFB),  Ambulance Victoria and a few Airband freqs remain.
This should speed up the scanning and allow more coherent following of channels.
Other freqs may still be on the other Analogue stream.

As always a few things may slip through, feel free to let me know and I’ll address ASAP.
Either email me or leave comments below. Registration approval is required for first post.

We’ve added a new Google Map under the Stream section.
Listeners can add the rough area where they are located and others can notify them if any thing happens nearby.

Read more here – http://www.scanaustralia.com.au/?page_id=62

UPDATE
We have also added several Online maps for information of events

Well only a few months to get to #3 posts.

The stream is back up running ProScan and a few listeners are online as I write this.
Remember to leave comments at the base of the stream page.

I’m now working with others to refine the stream freqs and make it more coherent and responsive.
We’re still the only online Metro Fire stream (Digital) with video display and I’m hoping to add more freqs soon.

Finally we have moved to a new Webhost and Server.
This one is local (Melb based) and service and support is soooooo much better than ever before.
We are using Cove and I would recommend them (or my reseller service I have with them).
I would NOT recommend the previous host jumba/ahq due to their slow response times and poor performance (and just misleading information).

More on that later, back to the scanning. I’ll try to get some of my pix up somehow too.

Ok

ScanAustralia’s B.I.T. (back in town)
Lets start off with a new stream and new ideas (mmm… digital)

First off I’m working on a new stream running Digital and Analogue freqs from Melbourne, Victoria.

More on this on the stream page here or you can make your own with the software at www.proscan.org
Download the client software and tune in to many radio scanners worldwide.
Mines in there but the address may changing shortly, check back on the stream page for the latest info.
